Ear Lobe Repair

Sometimes the hole of a pierced ear can become stretched, elongated, or even split completely. This is most likely due to a combination of wearing heavy earrings while frequently using the telephone. If this describes your ear(s), there is something that can be done, in as few as 30 to 45 minutes. A little anaesthetic is injected into the lobe, and the elongation or split is very carefully cut out. Then some very fine sutures are used to close it up, and these are removed a week later. Re-piercing can then be done in another six to eight weeks.

After earlobe repair surgery there will be small scar on the ear which will at first be red, but will eventually fade to a pale silvery colour. After 4-6 months the earlobe should look almost completely normal with no obvious signs of the previous piercing.
